Setting Up Inventory Locations

Setting Up Inventory Locations

Inventory locations are the physical places where you store your parts — tech vans, shop racks, delivery trucks, or any other storage area. You need at least one location before you can start tracking inventory.

Setting Up During Onboarding

Step 2 of the setup wizard asks you to add your locations. Enter a name for each one (e.g., "Tech Van — John", "Main Shop Rack", "Delivery Rack") and click Add. You can add as many as you need.

Adding Locations Later

If you skipped Step 2 or need to add more locations:

  1. Go to Inventory from the main navigation
  2. Click Manage Locations
  3. Click + Add Location
  4. Enter a name for the location
  5. Click Save

Types of Locations

  • Tech van locations — when a location is tied to a specific technician, GlassFlow uses it for automatic parts deduction when that tech's jobs are completed. Set this up by associating the location with a technician in the location settings.
  • Delivery rack — a location designated for incoming parts deliveries
  • Shop locations — any named rack or storage area in your shop

Tips

  • Name locations clearly so they're easy to identify when adding parts or reviewing logs
  • If a technician works from their own van, create a dedicated location and link it to them — this enables auto-loading
  • There's no limit to the number of locations you can create
