Per-Job vs. Hourly Pay

Per-Job vs. Hourly Pay

GlassFlow supports two ways to pay your technicians. You choose one mode for your whole shop — it applies to everyone on your team.

Per-Job Pay

In per-job mode, each technician earns a fixed dollar amount for each completed job. You set the pay amount when creating or editing a job (in the Financial section).

What's tracked:

  • Base pay per job
  • Separate ADAS pay (if the job includes calibration)
  • Helper pay (for two-man jobs)

The Payroll page shows a weekly job-by-job breakdown for each tech: customer name, vehicle, job amount, pay earned, and any ADAS or helper pay.

Best for: Shops where technician compensation is tied directly to the jobs they complete. Available on all plans.

Hourly Pay

In hourly mode, technicians use the time clock to track their hours. They clock in when they start, take a lunch break, and clock out at the end of the day. Their earnings are calculated automatically based on their hourly rate and total paid time.

What's tracked:

  • Clock-in and clock-out times per shift
  • Lunch breaks (deducted from paid time automatically)
  • Calculated paid hours and total pay per pay period

The Payroll page shows each technician's shifts for the week, their hourly rate, and total earnings.

Best for: Shops that pay technicians by the hour regardless of how many jobs they complete. Available on all plans.

How to Set the Pay Mode

Pay mode is configured during the onboarding setup wizard (Step 1). If you want to change it after setup, go to Account Settings and look for the Pay Mode setting.

Setting Hourly Rates

In hourly mode, each technician has an individual hourly rate set in cents. You can set this when adding a technician or update it any time from Account Settings → Technician Hourly Rates.
