Invite vs. Direct Create

Invite vs. Direct Create

When adding a technician, you choose one of two methods to create their account. Here's when to use each one.

The technician receives an email with a signup link. They click it, create their own password, and their account is active.

Best for:

  • Technicians with reliable access to their email
  • Situations where you want the tech to own their credentials from day one
  • Remote onboarding where you can't hand them a device directly

What happens:

  1. You enter the tech's name, email, and phone (and hourly rate if applicable)
  2. GlassFlow sends them a signup email
  3. They click the link, set a password, and log in
  4. Their account is immediately active

Note: Invite links expire after a period of time. If the tech doesn't sign up in time, you can remove them and re-add to send a fresh invite.

Direct Create (You Set a Temporary Password)

The account is created immediately with a temporary password you provide. You share the credentials with the technician and they log in right away.

Best for:

  • In-person onboarding where you're setting up devices together
  • Technicians who aren't tech-savvy or may not check email promptly
  • Getting someone into the app the same day

What happens:

  1. You enter the tech's name, email, and a temporary password (minimum 8 characters)
  2. The account is live immediately
  3. Share the email and password with the tech
  4. They should go to Account Settings → Change Password to set their own password

Note: There's no system-enforced requirement to change the temporary password, but it's strongly recommended. Remind new techs to update it on their first login.
